Chico, California (10/??/2021)... Casey Schmitz's 2021 season at Cycleland Speedway is one that will be cemented in books for a long time. The Chico, California native set multiple new records, and claimed his first 500cc Open class championship since 2018 in the Clyde Lamar owned #3C.

Schmitz started winning from the get go, winning four of the first six points races of the year. From there Casey began to rattle off wins, and a lot of them. He was able to string together six wins in a row in the middle part of the season.

Schmitz made nineteen starts in 2021, and was able to win an astounding fifteen times. He almost doubled the former single season win total of eight. Schmitz now sits fourth on the All-Time Wins list with thirty-three.

Casey did not only lead all drivers in wins, he led all drivers with seventeen Top 5's, five Trophy Dash wins, three qualifying Fast Times, and 271 A-Main laps led. Schmitz led 54.4% of all laps completed. Being up front so often gives twenty-three year-old an average finish of 2.7.

Next year, Casey will turn the page from Outlaw Karts to Sprint Car racing. He will stick with local shows for the most part because he wants to be a "hometown hero" in the recognizable blue and white #3C owned by Clyde Lamar.
